About Jazza Alswaileh

Sheikh Jazza Alswaileh (Jazza' ibn Fulaih al-Suwailih), born in Kuwait on 3 November 1969, is a Kuwaiti Quran reciter and teacher who teaches tajwid at the College of Sharia of Kuwait University. An accredited reciter of Kuwait's Quran radio, he was trained in the ten readings by leading Egyptian masters.

A graduate of the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Kuwait University, he received ijazas from Sheikh Ahmad Abd al-Aziz al-Zayyat, from Sheikh Abd al-Hakim Abd al-Latif, head of the Al-Azhar reading school, and from Sheikha Umm al-Sa'd, the leading teacher of recitation in Alexandria, and studied the principles of the ten readings in both their "major" and "minor" forms.

He teaches tajwid and Quran at Kuwait University, where he also directs the Quran centres of the College of Sharia, and serves as a volunteer imam for the Ministry of Awqaf at the Habib al-Bannay Mosque. He has run tajwid courses in Kuwait, other Arab countries and Europe, and sat on the juries of Quran competitions. Accredited by the Quran radio stations of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, he has recorded a complete reading of the Quran for Quran radio.

His available recitations follow the reading of Hafs 'an 'Asim and include a "mushaf mu'allim", a teaching recitation designed for learners.
