About Mahmoud Abu Al-Wafa al-Saidi

Sheikh Mahmoud Abu Al-Wafa al-Saidi (1954-2018) was an Egyptian Quran reciter from Upper Egypt. Born in the village of Kalah al-Gabal in Aswan Governorate, he was one of the reciters from the Sa'id who became known on Egypt's Holy Quran Radio, and the press called him "Karawan al-Sa'id", the songbird of Upper Egypt.

Known for the sweetness of his voice, he died on 19 November 2018. His measured (murattal) recitations follow the Hafs 'an 'Asim reading.
