About Abdulhadi Kanakeri

Sheikh Abdulhadi Kanakeri (Abd al-Hadi ibn Ahmad Kanakeri) is a Syrian Quran reciter based in Saudi Arabia. Originally from Halboun, near Damascus, and holding a doctorate, he taught for many years in Dhahran and led prayers there; his complete recitation of the Quran in the Hafs reading is broadcast on Saudi Arabia's Quran Radio.

He grew up under the care of his father, Sheikh Ahmad Kanakeri, nicknamed "the little Shafi'i" and a close companion of Sheikh Ahmad Kuftaro, the Grand Mufti of Syria. He learned the Quran from his father as a child and later read it with other teachers in Damascus, before earning a doctorate in Pakistan.

After settling in Saudi Arabia he taught the Quranic sciences and joined the teaching staff of the Prince Sultan Military College of Health Sciences in Dhahran. He was also imam of the Abu Bakr al-Siddiq Mosque in Dhahran, inside the Saudi Aramco compound, until around 1430 AH (2009); since then he has led the Ramadan Tarawih and night prayers in mosques in several Gulf countries.

Besides his complete recitation in the reading of Hafs 'an 'Asim, he has recorded a teaching recitation for learners.
