Zain Bhikha

Early albums

He recorded his first album, A Way of Life, in 1994, followed by Praise to the Prophet (1996), Fortunate is He (1997) and The Journey (1999). On stage he often performs with nothing more than a djembe or daf and a few backing vocalists.

Working with Yusuf Islam

He sang on all but one track of A Is for Allah, the album by Yusuf Islam, formerly Cat Stevens, released in 2000 on the Mountain of Light label, with which he remained associated through Jamal Records. He then released Faith (2001), a collaboration with the Canadian singer Dawud Wharnsby, and Our World (2002). The two artists have worked together on several later records, including Allah Knows (2006), Hope (2011) and The Passing Traveller (2015). In April 2008 he performed Yusuf Islam's "Peace Train" at the Al Mahabbah festival in Abu Dhabi.

Zain Bhikha Studios

In 2005 he founded Zain Bhikha Studios in South Africa, a non-profit set up as a waqf that produces his work, supports other creators and runs a children's branch. Mountains of Makkah came out the same year. He has kept recording since, from Songs of a Soul (2014) to Salvation (2020) and Love and Loss (2025), and has performed on several continents.
