Surah At-Tin – Mishary Rashid Alafasy

At-Tin ("The Fig") is the 95th surah of the Quran, in Juz' Amma. Meccan, it has 8 verses and is the 28th surah in the traditional order of revelation, after Al-Buruj. It opens with an oath by the fig and the olive, by Mount Sinai and by "this secure city", Mecca (95:1-3).

Some scholars, as Ibn Kathir reports, see in these oaths the lands of three great messengers: the country of the fig and olive around Jerusalem, where Jesus was sent; Sinai, where God spoke to Moses; and Mecca, where Muhammad ﷺ was sent.

The oath introduces the surah's message: "We have certainly created man in the best of stature" (95:4), then returned him to the lowest of the low, except those who believe and do good, whose reward will never end (95:5-6). It closes by asking what could still make anyone deny the Judgement: "Is not God the most just of judges?" (95:8).

Al-Bara' ibn 'Azib heard the Prophet ﷺ recite this surah in the evening prayer while travelling, and said he had never heard anyone with a finer voice or recitation (al-Bukhari, Muslim).
